Heidelberg's Busy Bee Signature Quilt Exhibition Now Open!

Posted on Monday, 27th May 2019 by Janine Rizzetti

Come along to the museum to see our new exhibition ‘Heidelberg’s Busy Bee Signature Quilt 1895-96’. This fascinating quilt was created by women associated with Heidelberg Scots Church, which at that time was still located across the road from the museum, before shifting up the road to its present site in Burgundy Street.

Our display explains the history of the church and fundraising in the late 19th century, and traces through the networks across Melbourne’s suburbs that led to the signatures being recorded on the quilt. It describes how the quilt returned to Australia from New Zealand and found its way down to us at the museum.

Come along on a Sunday afternoon between 2.00 and 5.00 to see the quilt. Entry is $5.00, with free entry for members and children under 16.

If you know groups who would like to have a special mid-week opening of the display, contact us and we’ll make a time.
