Posted on Thursday, 3rd February 2022 by Janine Rizzetti
John Arthur is best known as the first Superintendent of the Melbourne Botanic Gardens, but he was a Heidelberg resident too. Soon after his arrival in Port Phillip in 1839 he was granted land on the Yarra at Heidelberg where he established his plant nursery and grew fruit and vegetables. Irene Kearsey (one of our members) and Mary Ward are giving a presentation on John Arthur on Wednesday 9th February via Zoom.
